About Emily Moorefield, RD, CEDS

Registered Dietitian | Certified Eating Disorder Specialist
Nutrition Services Based in Virginia

I am so glad you are here! You have already taken the first step to improving your relationship with food by being on this page.

I am a dietitian who truly believes that healing your relationship with food is possible, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now. I offer virtual nutrition counseling for individuals who are navigating eating disorders, disordered eating, and gastrointestinal health concerns. My work is rooted in compassion, evidence-based care, and the understanding that food and body struggles are never “just about food.”

A little about my background:

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from James Madison University (go dukes), completed a dietetic internship at the University of Virginia Health System (go hoos), and passed the Registered Dietitian Certification exam. I later obtained my Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) credential, which reflects my specialized training and commitment to this work.

Before founding Emily Moorefield Nutrition, LLC, I gained extensive experience working across multiple levels of eating disorder treatment, including Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient care. I also served as Nutrition Director at a Residential Treatment Center (RTC) for eating disorders for three years, all while growing my private practice. Through this work, I’ve had the honor of supporting both adolescents and adults as they build the courage, confidence, and self-trust needed to heal their relationships with food and their bodies.

My approach:

I don’t believe in food rules, shame, or one-size-fits-all plans.

We will focus together on:

  • Nourishing your body with nutrition adequacy and variety

  • Learning what your body truly needs to feel supported

  • Gently letting go of harmful food rules and food judgment

  • Rebuilding body trust and confidence around eating

  • Supporting gut health without restriction

  • Discovering what a peaceful, flexible relationship with food can actually look like

I take a whole-person, therapeutic approach, meeting you where you are and honoring your lived experience. My goal is to provide care that feels safe, collaborative, and deeply respectful, because healing happens best when you feel seen and supported.

Who I work with:

Whether you are seeking help for binge eating, restrictive eating, gut symptoms, or navigating nutrition in a stressful season of life, my virtual practice allows me to serve you across Virginia, Arizona, California, Colorado, and Michigan from the comfort of your home.

I welcome people of all body sizes, gender identities, sexual orientations, races, and religions. I would be honored to support you.
