About Emily Moorefield, RD

Have you spent years feeling stuck in rigid food rules, guilt after eating, and constant preoccupation with food?

Are you exhausted from wondering why nothing seems to “work” or questioning whether recovery is even possible for you?

I am really glad you are here.

Just landing on this page tells me something important: part of you is wanting to experience what a different relationship with food could look like. That matters more than you might realize.

I am a virtual eating disorder dietitian based in Richmond, Virginia who truly believes that healing your relationship with food is possible, even if right now it feels confusing, exhausting, and completely out of reach.

If any of this resonates, you are not alone. You have come to the right place for compassionate support.

Specialized Training in Eating Disorders

Before founding Emily Moorefield Nutrition, LLC, I gained extensive experience working across multiple levels of eating disorder treatment, including Residential Treatment (RTC), Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient care.

Supporting clients at each state of treatment has given me a nuanced understanding of what eating disorder recovery truly requires, structure when needed, flexibility when possible, and compassion throughout.

Now, I bring that experience into private practice, meeting you exactly where you are and offering steady, informed support as you build a sustainable relationship with food and your body.

Credentials and Education:

Why I Serve My Clients:

I have seen how isolating eating struggles can be.

How high- achieving, thoughtful, capable people can still feel completely lost and out of control with food. How exhausting it is to carry that chaos internally while appearing “fine” on the outside.

I do this work because I don’t want you living in constant preoccupation.

I don’t believe in rigid food rules, shame-based motivation, or one size fits all nutrition plans. I am here to help you build sustainable change built on understanding, flexibility, and trust.

I would be honored to support you.

Together, We Will Focus On:

  • Learning what adequacy, consistency, and food variety means for your body.

  • Developing a structured, semi-structured, or flexible meal plan based on your nutritional status.

  • Addressing concerns regarding weight, health, and overall well-being with compassionate care.

  • Interrupting the restrict- binge cycle by exploring its underlying drivers.

  • Exploring the emotional drivers that increase urges to use food when life feels overwhelming or out of control.

  • Exploring nutrition related lab values and evidence based interventions to support your health goals.

  • Gently letting go of harmful food rules, guilt, and food judgment.

  • Rebuilding body trust and confidence around eating.

  • Offering transparency around weight history, growth charts, and your natural set point range.

  • Learning to fuel adequately for sports performance.

  • Supporting your gut health and microbiome through food first strategies and supplements when appropriate.

  • Discovering what a peaceful, flexible relationship with movement can look like for you.

  • Coordinating with your treatment team to ensure collaborative, aligned care.
